What to expect from the taster sessions

The 30th March 2015 starts a fortnight of Bicester Boot Camp taster sessions, so what can you expect?

Firstly, the need to know bits! The sessions are being held on the following days;

Monday 30th March 2015

Wednesday 1st April 2015

Tuesday 7th April 2015

Thursday 9th April 2015

Kiwi popsicle

Each session will run between 6.30 - 7.30pm on the Bure Park playing fields off Lucerne Avenue. There is plenty of parking available by the shops on Bure Park with the playing fields a 2 minute walk away. Although there is street parking throughout the estate, please park responsibly and not block access to driveways etc.

And each session will cost just £1 each with every penny going towards Breast Cancer Research (see next blog for more details).

I will be setting up from around 6pm so feel free to arrive a little earlier if you wish, and please sign in my diary (for my accounts!) and complete a PAR-Q to highlight any medical conditions or concerns (not as scary as it sounds!!)

We will then do a quick warm up to increase your heart rate and improve flexibility ready for the session ahead. A few stretches, a re-warm and we're good to go!!

Each session will be different with circuit training, boxing and all sorts of fun exercises and random pieces of equipment thrown in along the way. Most exercises will be done for a minute (or so) before moving on to the next one, and there will be alternatives to adapt to your needs. You can work as hard, or as easy as you want, and even if you hate an exercise you've only got to put up with it for a minute.

I will encourage and support you to work just outside your comfort zone, so if you can do one press up, I'll push you to do 2. If you can do 50 then I'll push you to do 60! As long as you are pushing yourself then you will meet the goals you set for yourself, and achieve the results you want. Bicester Boot Camp really is for everyone.

The training session itself will last approximately 50 minutes, and we will stretch off and warm down at the end to help ease any tired muscles.

The sessions are outdoors with no changing or storage facilities so please come with what you need but no more. I would recommend wearing good fitting training shoes, jogging bottoms or shorts and layers of clothing that you can adapt to the conditions. (We run in all weather conditions!) Many people bring a top to wear before and after, but please remember to take everything with you (although I do tend to wash and iron anything left!!).

You should also bring a water bottle, preferable something that stands out from the 30 bottles of Evian on the table. However, the most important thing to bring is a smile!! Bicester Boot Camp is fun and friendly, even if it doesn't feel like that when you're doing burpees!!!

I hope this helps answer any questions and I look forward to seeing you all very soon.

Pete :)
